Stefany Fuentes

Stefany Fuentes is a bilingual multicultural Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the State of California. Holds an Alcohol and Drug Counselor Licensure (LADC) certification. Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology: Social Services and a double minor in Ethnic Studies and Education from the University of California Davis. She received her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Palo Alto University. She is a member of the CAMFT.

Although Stefany always knew she was going to be a therapist someday, she had a previous career as an Educator. Stefany was an Education Director for the Boys and Girls Club. While developing the college-bound program, she found herself supporting many of her students beyond their educational needs by supporting their mental health needs and further connecting them to community partners. This experience led her to pursue a graduate program in Counseling Psychology. During her graduate program, Stefany worked as a Mental Health Consultant with Edgewood by providing mental health-related workshops to school staff and providing mental health assessment recommendations for 540 or Individual Education Plans. In her final year of graduate school, Stefany was awarded the Santa Clara County Stipend, which provided her the opportunity to work in outpatient settings, serving children, transitional-aged youth, and families, primarily focusing on substance use disorders and related struggles, depression, anxiety, and associated symptoms (including body image, perfectionism, and OCD). Upon graduating from her graduate program, Stefany has worked in numerous therapeutic settings, including home and community-based agencies and corporations. In her most recent positions, she has transitioned to working with adults. Currently, Stefany holds many roles, she is the owner of Damask Family Counseling and Consulting providing therapy and doula care. She enjoys seeing clients and volunteering in the community.

By using a strength-based, trauma-informed, and family-focused approach, Stefany works with clients exposed to toxic stress by coordinating care. Stefany works with clients who experience depression, anxiety, grief, maternal mental health, pregnancy loss, trauma, low self-esteem, disordered eating, and life changes and transitions like divorce by utilizing several evidence-based practices. Stefany has already completed and become certified in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), which may be appropriate to help you through painful memories and symptoms related to trauma. In Stefany’s work as a professional counselor, she has served as a therapist, consultant, and trainer, but her heart has always been passionate about developing mental health programs and services that support maternal health.

When Stefany is not at work, she is traveling all over the world for personal or professional reasons. Stefany is a native of Los Angles. Her favorite things are tea, self-care, running, and volunteering. Stefany has been a long-time research assistant volunteer at Stanford and the Veterans Affairs office.
